If you find yourself strolling through the vibrant streets of Soho, make sure to stop by Assa located at 23 Romilly St, London W1D 5AQ. This bustling Korean restaurant has quickly established itself as a favourite among locals and tourists alike, known for delivering authentic Korean flavours in a lively setting. With its casual ambiance, Assa strikes a perfect balance between a relaxed dining experience and the excitement of a popular eatery.
One of the standout features of Assa is its extensive menu, which offers a delightful variety of dishes that cater to every craving. From the crispy yet tender Pa Jeon (Korean pancakes) priced at £8.50 to the heartwarming Bu Dae Jji Gae hot pots starting at £31, every dish is crafted with care and complexity. The Seafood Kimchi Jeon and Bulgogi Kimchi Jungol are particularly notable for their rich flavours and generous portions, making them popular choices for both newcomers and regulars.
For those who enjoy a refreshing twist, the Naengmyeon (cold noodles) is a highlight, expertly combining the perfect contrast of textures and flavours, all for just £12. The lively atmosphere is complemented by the upbeat music, creating an enjoyable backdrop for friends and family to gather. The customer reviews consistently sing praise for the high-quality dishes and the friendly, attentive staff. One delighted diner noted how the food exceeded their expectations, stating, "not gonna lie, I walked in kinda skeptical…but then I saw actual Koreans eating there," confirming the restaurant's authenticity. Another regular, having frequented Assa for lunch, adored their affordable yet substantial meals, making it a sought-after spot for a nourishing break.
In terms of value, Assa impressively delivers exceptionally well-prepared dishes at prices that many find surprisingly reasonable for London. Whether you’re after a heartening hot pot to warm you up in the winter or a quick lunch that won't break the bank, you’ll find your cravings satisfied here.

Assa Located in Soho, is a favourite for those craving authentic Korean food in central London. Known for its hearty hot pots, flavourful bibimbap, and crisp kimchi pancakes, the restaurant delivers bold, satisfying dishes at prices that feel fair for the area. The casual setting, lively atmosphere, and quick service make it a great choice for groups or anyone after a vibrant dining experience without the polish of fine dining. On the flip side, Assa’s popularity means it often gets crowded, with tight seating and noise levels that won’t suit all diners seeking quiet meal or intimate meal. Some dishes can be hit-or-miss, but the highlights more than make up for it, keeping regulars coming back. For authentic flavours served in a bustling, energetic space, Assa remains one of Soho’s most reliable Korean food spots. Personally , we loved the food and experience.

I have regularly come for lunch for the last three years and love love love Assa! They offer tasty and affordable lunch options but don’t be afraid to explore the rest of their menu - I always like to try a variety of their food! The music is always great and the staff are lovely! It’s difficult to find places in Soho that offer a proper sit down meal for lunch that’s nourishing but doesn’t cost you loads and that’s why Assa is my go-to (especially in the winter time when you want a hot bowl of food and a warm place to spend your lunch break)!

The food was delicious, I would definitely come back again to try other items on the menu. The restaurant is walk in only, the queue does move fast. The staff are very attentive and the food came out very quick despite being super busy. From the flavours to the portion size, this place did not disappoint and it was halal.

The food was really good and we got served relatively quickly even thought it was quite busy! The bbimbap bowls are really good and so’s the crispy fried chicken!

I come here at least once a month because the food is delicious and priced well. My favourites are the beef bulgogi, the scallion pancakes and the boneless chicken in sweet and spicy sauce. Their drinks selection is really impressive as they have a wide range of flavours. I like the lychee soda personally. The service is very quick, I gave the atmosphere 3* as it's quite packed and loud in there but I guess that's what makes it so reasonably priced. Always looking forward to coming here
